I'm looking for a reasonably priced red/white Japanese ranchu lion. So far
all the local shops don't have the quality I am looking for, none of them
have the nicely curved backs, and are bumpy. Is there a place I can order
them online that is based in Canada? I would order from the USA or other
countries, but I have no idea how the customs deal with shipping fish across
borders. Do they charge tax/duty and have a quarantine period?

I do not believe there is a qaurintine for g/f.. Depends on the price of
the fish I would think, if the value of the fish is not over $30 Cdn I don't
think there would be any customs charges on them. You can check in the
Government pages and phone the local Taxation and Customs Canada to double
check. This time of year too, I would think many US dealers might be
reluctant to send fish to Canada, because it might be too darn cold.. Ask
the lady that posts here named NetMax, she might have something in her store
that might intrest you, and the business is in Canada.
When you finish checking the Customs requirements, here is a site that
might intrest you as well.. They don't only deal with Koi, but G/F as well..
I have had the opportunity to visit the place. www.mystickoi.com I do
not know if they ship thier fish though..

Try Andrew at www.fishsempai.com in Toronto. He's very good to deal with,
and ships everywhere, including the US. I inquired at a few places online
in the USA and none ship up here. Andrew has some nice fish. Worth taking
a look.
