goldfish laid eggs and then died

I had a goldfish that laid some eggs the day before yesterday. She seemed to be tired from the ordeal, so I left her alone to recover. She died today. Is there something that I should have done (moved her to a different tank)? The other fish in the tank ate all eggs before I could get to them and have been behaving strangely after the death (especially one particular fish which is presumably the mate).

The very same thing happened to me a few weeks ago.
The consensus seemed to be that the eggs are a very high
protein food source, so it's exactly like dumping way too
much food in the tank all at once.
The eggs get consumed, then passed as waste, your tank gets an
ammonia spike. Your biobugs can eventually process it, but
probably not fast enough, which means the fish have to endure
high concentrations of both ammonia and nitrites, both toxic.

Get those fish out of that water and into a tub of clean water, pronto;
then change out the water in the tank. And good luck. In my case,
I lost them all. May you have better luck.

Well, I meant all 3 of them from that tank. The other 5
are still around, including Gracie (oldest) and MutantBoy (fattest)
and Beulah (meanest).
