Hi. I was wondering if anybody knows what a white bump on my one
goldfishes back would be. I tryed some antibacterial meds but it did
nothing.. The bump is on back right before his head. One side of the
bump is white the other just slighty reder then the fish...
HELP

They do get tumors, not from an infectious agent, but just
spontaneous.

there is a note at the koivet site regarding these.

I had one removed from one of my goldfish a few months ago, it was
expensive, and the tumor has returned.

Could be a tumour as already suggested. What are your water parameters like
is the whiteness fluffy?

I change the water every week ( about 25%) my goldfish is about 8
years old.. The skin around and on the tumor is not fluffy.. Just
white... I also ad salt to the water as instructed...

do some extra water changes. what is the level of nitrates? keep nitrates at or under
20 ppm.

just do a topical treatment. it is the least likely to harm. if the bump is soft it
could be infection.. bacterial. if the lump is hard, then it could be a tumor.
