If the water level in the pond is higher than the surrounding ground level,
then the weight of water should hold the liner down. If it does not, then
insert a hose between the liner and the soil, and try to get it to go as
near the center of the bulge as possible. The weight of the pond water
should start causing the water to run from the hose, and the liner will
start to settle. Continue filling the pond as the water flows out from
under it. Leave the hose in place for future water to escape. If the liner
is at ground level, I would recommend the liner be lifted around the edges
to make it come up higher than the surroundings.

Hi Dan,

Dig a trench around the pond - dig down about 18".
Put about 4 or so inches of 2 inch gravel in the trench,
then put the
4" drain hose inside the trench. Cover with landscape
cloth - then put the dirt back into the trench. I also built
a berm about 6 inches tall around the pond. Spread some
large pine bark around the pond. The rainwater doesn't
flow into the pond anymore.
BTW, I had to let the water
drain out from under the liner. Took some time but I
had no choice in the matter.
I did this 8 or 9 years ago and it has worked fine.
