We live in Northern Michigan, and we've gotten lots of snow. Our 100watt
heater keeps a hole open in the ice, but when we get a lot of snow, the
heater doesn't melt the snow, and it covers the whole heater. Does anyone
else have this problem? If so, have you solved the problem? I'm tired of
going out there twice a day to shovel the snow off the heater.

Even my 1000 watt heater had snow on top, but around the edges it was
melted, perhaps a bubbler near the heater would help keep a bigger opening
and snow melting? ~jan
