Adding air to the filter is just plain GOOD. It will help agitate the beads;
it helps to keep them clean; it feeds oxygen to the biobugs; it adds oxygen
to the return water. Biobugs that are exposed to higher oxygen content grow
faster and do their work better; fish that have more oxygen grow better,
have better color, and fewer health problems. You can't go wrong.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "blower"; I don't get that technical. AES
has a 4-stone hook-up (part # ALP4, $37.00) that can be easily made
yourself, but by the time you get the parts, it may be easier to just
purchase the ready-made unit. I hooked it up to their (part #9720 for $55,
or you could also use the 9730 for $79) air pump, and it just blasts the
stuff away. Just remember to increase the airhose size: like water pipe, the
bigger the better. 1/4" airline hose ain't gonna cut it <G>. I'm using 5/8".
This set-up can be used either in the pond for extra aeration (the fish like
to swim through the bubbles once they get used to it) or in the bottom of a
tank/barrel to oxygenate and "boil" the media.
