Filtration advice for newbie

Hi everyone,

I'm considering switching my freshwater 75g tank to sal****er. I would like
to
keep mostly fish in it but I will also want to get an anemone and possibly
some live rock.
I'm looking for information on the appropriate type of filtration for this
setup. Any advice
and or product suggestions are appreciated.

Also, if you have certain links that could provide me with info, i'd
appreciate it.

any kind of filter would work really..without the sponge is the best way.
Live rock works wonders to help filter your water (biologically, of course)
and a protein skimmer.

Depending on what kind of filter system you currently have with your
freshwater would help us out to guide you also. But for the most part you
just need live rock and water flow. :) Sponges in your filter hold gunk
which leads to high nitrates, which leads to bad things happening to your
livestock. So if you absolutely must have something to catch the small
particles floating around just throw in some filter wool for a few days to
collect it all and throw it out when you're satisfied.

Personally, I have live rock and a Fluval 304 with chemi-pure in it. That's
it, and my tank is cllllllear as can be! But like they say "to each his
own."

As I understand it anemones take a lot of light. Much more light than
anything you had on your freshwater tank.

On my 46 gal bow front I have a 192 watt Coralife and I have been told
even it will not be enough for an anemone to thrive. You probably
have a less than 100 watt florescent lights. Just something to
consider while trying to make up your mind as to do this or not.

Salt water for other than a fish only can be quite a money pit. :)
But it is worth it.

I may be wrong about this. But if so I'm sure I'll be corrected. :)
