is there any rocks or stones that I should not put in my pond?
Is there a problem coins in the water?

Stay away from pennies as they contain copper which can be poisonous and is
fairly soluble.

Avoid pennies, they just turn green, and the dissolved copper in the water
is bad for the fish. Also avoid shale, it often contains oil.

Ingrid - are you sure limestone is OK? - A friend had a problem with ph
traced back to the use of driveway gravel in her pots . The gravel was
crushed limestone

something musta been mixed in with the limestone for the drive... like quicklime that
will drive the pH up past 9. Up here in Wisconsin we have limestone quarries and
every so often they hit an artesian and they fill up and are great swimming and
fishing holes. tons of fish.
as long as he is using limestone slabs 99.99% he will be fine. he will be using
local slabs and that means his water is also alkaline and filled with calcium since
the water is perking thru the same limestone layers.
now..... somebody in teh deep south with acid water wants to use limestone to buffer
their water and bring it up naturally. but going to have to pay thru nose for the
slabs of limestone.
it is good to clean the limestone slabs before they go into the pond to get any
traces of "etc" off that might have contaminated the surface. and once the pond is
filled and everything in place check the pH to make sure it stabilizes before adding
teh fish. when doing big water changes is better to throw some baking soda in to
bring pH up of new water so fish wont have sharp pH drop. Ingrid
