View Full Version : my ph is over 8 what do I do?
Hi everybody, been testing my pond weekly and over the weeks my ph has
slowly been rising. Originally it was between 7 and 8 and has been
climbing ever since, Today its above 8 by a little, The pond is about
2 months old and all ny plants and fish are doing good, no ammonia or
nitrite and salt level is 1.0. So what do I do?

What is the pond made out of? Do you have any cement or rocks that may be
causing a rise in the pH

Sounds to me like you have a near perfect pond! Don't do
anything to it. pH 8 is ideal...

My pond has a rubber liner in it 45mil firestone. Nothing really around
it to leach into the water. The stones around it is granite and marble.
I thought I should strive for a ph more around 7, but if above 8 is
okay, I'm in there, thanks

Don't worry too about it...seriously.. in fact I suggest you throw all
your test kits away. Don't overstock... keep thing simple
the marble is not good. it is soft and it dissolves and leaches calcium into the
pond and will continue to push the pH up. granite is fine. Ingrid

My pond is and always has been a steady 9. My fish seem to be fine.
