canister filter- Protien Skimmer -Live Rock ? or all

Whats the best mix and why? I'm confused

Using a 55 galtank with a undergravel filter should I use

1.2 canister filters with out bio-balls and also using live rock with
a protein Skimmer

2.2 canister filers using bio-balls with a protein skimmer and no live
rock

3.2 canister filters using bio-balls,protein skimmer and live rock

4.2-canister filters without bio-balls-live rock and no protien
skimmers

5.Can a protein skimmer wait for awhile while I use just the canister
filter and live rock, what is best way to use in the canister filter
if I'm going to use live rock?

What would you recomend?

I got rid of my UG filter a long time ago. I think most people use Live sand
as the substrate and clean up crews. You need live rock, canister filters
are good for polishing the water, most people use skimmers now to get rid of
excess waste.
