Hello all,
I have just completed the construction of my new custom 240 gal marine tank
and am ready to start introducing livestock. Water has been running for 7
days at the right SG and Temp (1.023 and 77F respectively).

I know that there are a plethora of online fish stores but I have not been
very sucessful in gathering service reviews for them to ensure that the
business I plan to do will be favorable.

What I'm interested in knowing is if anyone has had any experience with
online live aquaria purchases and what was that experience?

Are there stores you recommend? Why? Stores you avoid? Why?

I intend to supply my tank with a fish only and live rock combination.
After a few years of experience, I'll consider moving into the reef area,
but that would require some adjustments. For now, I'll be content with a
large angel or two as my main show fish.

Thank you,
Justin

Justin,
my entire tank with the exception of the tank and lights were bought online
from www.liveaquaria.com and it's brother site www.drsfostersmith.com. I
think they are based out of Florida with a call center in Wisconsin, and I
am in Los Angeles, CA. I literally got all my equipment from them (skimmer,
pumps, filters, LS, LR, corals, fish, etc.). Check out pics of my tank to
see the quality at http://www.bighaig.com/salt_tank/ . Tank is as of
October 2003, and I think looks great.

I am following their online guide on how to setup a SW tank
http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=206 give or
take a few days here and there.

Just to make sure, you are planning on cycling your tank first before
adding a bunch of livestock, right?

If you're going to cycle with live fish, you're probably better off
getting some damsels or green chromis from your lfs.

Yes. My introduction schedule will follow this basic order: Live Rock,
"small" adult growth size fish. (total 4 planned with max 4" ea.). Primary
display angels (2 planned 12" adult size ea) and tangs/ algae crew as growth
appears (but not simultaneously with any other group and never more than 2
fish introduced at any one time.

I will be checking the water chemistry after each introduction and not plan
the next addition until all readings are at stable cycle levels (0 ammonia,
0 NO2, etc.)
