The first thing that I would do is get some salt in the pond at 0.8 pounds
per 100 gallons (0.1%). The fish should be netted and the ulcer treated
with a topical treatment of PP as a paste, iodine, or betadine and then have
the ulcer covered with an antibiotic first aid ointment. The ulcer will
start to get a white coating, and this is good, as it is new skin growing
over the sore. Be sure the water quality is really good, with 0 ammonia,
and nitrites. Observe that fish and the others for any sign of flashing
that would indicate parasites.
