March 30th 04, 06:33 AM
hello, im most likely being forced to sell my system on a move from
california to alaska and moving into a 21ft trailer for the move in the
weeks to come. im curious on how much to sell the system for. my system is
a 60 gal reef setup with wetdry converted into refugium that has a 2 part
overflow box that hangs inside and out. have 3 types of
caelurpa(spelling?)including grape and razor and feather in sump. included
300watt heater 4no bulbs(2X50-50. 1x10k, 1xactinic), nice homemade wooden
canopy with hinged lids where lights swing out when opened, and lots of base
life that has been growing/reproducing for about a year and half. lots of
worms, many micro snails, atleast 15 starfish are getting bigger now from
birth, 20 lbs sugar marine sand making about 1inch on bottom or 1/1/2 inch,
20lb aragonite sand in sump, many live rock with nothing special other than
lots of base life, snail starfish and worm birthing factory, some spreading
coraline, lots of tube worms hard and soft, some green hairy looking tube
worms that are spreading and some spawning mushrooms where none are bigger
than an inch. as far as the live rocks they fill about half the tank and
are very nice purple colored and some have whitish growth on them calcium
based and some have purple coraline and pink coraline on them. hair algae
still in there but after a study/test i found that if left in the system to
get out of control the hairalgae combatters will prevail, hair algae is a
dying species in my tank, still cyano here and there on bottom. included
two penguin powerheads and one homemade skimmer. no stand, no one would
want what i am using for stand. oh and tank is glass and sump is 6gallon.
thinking of starting out at $2000 if i am actually forced to sell it god
forbid, but it will get me to alaska... im sure you guys remember me, they
guy thats moving to the big AK. cant believe i have to sell the tank, i
just have too much stuff and im afraid the rock wont live if left in cold
buckets with no circulation for a month or two along my journey, plain
sucks.... thanks for any info

forgot to mention, the kit comes with test kits like nitrate, nitrite,
ammonia, alkalinity, specific gravity, and years supply or more of
phytoplankton, plus some superbuffer, probuffer, iodine, iron, coralvite,
coral accell, and no fish by the way, its ready to add fish anytime, i would
have if the wallet permitted.

no, but this is not a .marketplace group. you might try there instead.

this is worth exactly what someone will pay for it. this is highly dependant
upon WHERE you are in the world and how many people in your area want
something like this. anyone can give you a price for their area, but it
would be wrong for yours.

you might try to price it at 50% of what you paid for it, and work down from
there if you don't get any offers.

People expect to spend $40-50/gallon to build a running sal****er
tank. Put the whole tank up for $15-25/gallon. If it's still using
the same filters/gear from 15 years ago, it's worth less. If you've
got newer equipment supporting it, it's worth more.

I would be astonished if you actually found a taker for more than
$20/gallon, but put OBO (or best offer) in the ad, follow your
instincts about the people who respond and take the first offer
that makes any sense to you.

Regards,
Ross

ya it does, thanks. the wet dry is about 10 yrs old, but in xclnt shape,
and other stuff has all been renewed like lights, heaters powerheads, and of
course all life. glass is only thing older, and wetdry isnt wet dry anymore,
its a refugium so thats new too. if its 60 gal sound like your suggesting
1200 obo.. cool.
i may be lucky not to be forced to sell it, my mom may take it while i move
north and i will try to figure out a way to get the gear shipped up there
when i get a new tank some day..
great, thanks..
