View Full Version : Green Hair Algae

Hi all,

I orginally had a canister filter on my 65g reef aquarium. Then one day it
went out.

I scrambled to buy a new wet/dry filter, and now I am fighting green algae.
I am assuming it's beause the filter needs to cycle, but it has been about a
month now.

My question is, how can I get this green algae under control? I'm doing
weekly water changes and even resorted to buying an urchin, but I can't seem
to get the algae under control. In fact, I think it is getting worse.

I am using Eheim Glass Media in my wet/dry filter rather than the bio-balls.
Would that have anything to do with it?

Anyone know of a good way to clean this stuff off my live rock?

Thanks,

Russ

Slowly remove the glass media.
Originally - What is the function of the canister filter when prior non
working?
Check everywhere that may trap debris. Where does your green algae grow
most?
