Hello gang - hoping someone can answer this question. I have a 6 year
old FOWLR 55 gal setup that has been on the following setup:
undergravel filter system (I know, it's from way back when)
Penguin 330 biowheel filter system
Hot-Magnum (hang on the back) Pro filter
Protein skimmer.
This tank has been going strong - only problem I have is keeping the
phosphates down (green hair algae growth - treating with weekly 10%
changes and phosphate sponge.)
The problem I have is that the Penguin Biowheel apparently stopped
working; perhaps the motor wore out (it is 6 years old). I've
unplugged and replugged, and filled it back up with water but it
doesn't cycle. Being cash poor do I need to go out and replace it
with a new one? Yes, the undergravel filter is a bad thing these days
but have lacked the time and resources to pull it out without killing
my fish (niger triger, two perculas, and a blue dot puffer).
Bottom line is if this system will work just fine on the HotMagnum Pro
filter I have on the back of the tank. Thanks in advance for your aid
and assistance.
Regards,
Wendy
