View Full Version : Eheim 2222 filter impeller broken (50hz or 60Hz ?)

Hello,
My Eheim 2222 filter is broken! And I need to replace the impeller.
I had to go overseas on urgent business for two months and I (repeatedly)
told my friends who were housesitting my house to top up the water in the
two fish tanks. They only did it for one tank. Grrrr!!!!!
When I came back, the other tank - which did not have fish - but still had a
working Eheim 2222 filter and heater - only had 60% water left. The heater
and filter hoses
were all above water. The Eheim was warm but not working.
I took it apart and found that the impeller cylinder magnet was cracked.
I have to replace it - but the manuel vaguely says that the part is either a
7657360 (50Hz) or a 7657370 (60 Hz). I'm not too sure which one to get.
Can someone please advise?
Cheers,
YM

It depends on where you are: Here in little old New Zealand our power is
50hz or 50 cycles / second - the US uses 60hz, I am not sure about the UK
and Europe?

Hey there,
I'm over in Australia. The electricity here is set at 240w. I don't know how
it relates to a 60 or 50hz impeller. I guess I should be using 50 if you are
also using the same.>?

If you are in the US, it's 60Hz. Everywhere else, it's 50Hz. (I don' think
there are any countries other than the US that use 60Hz?)
Cheers,
Michi.

Sorry Michi, you left yourself wide open on this one ;~)
The countries on 60Hz are (besides Canada & the US):
Antigua, Aruba, American Samoa, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, Cayman
Islands, Columbia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Guam, Guatemala, Honduras, Liberia, Mexico, Montserrat,
Nicaragua, No.Mariana Is., Okinawa, Panama, Philippines, Puerto Rica,
St.Kitts & Nevis, St.Pierre & Miquelon, Surinam, Taiwan, Tonga, Trinidad
& Tobago, Venezuela, Virgin Islands,
The following use both 50 and 60Hz, so check your local supply:
Guyana, Haiti, Japan, South Korea, Neth. Antilles, Peru, Saudi Arabia,

Bloody hell, sure looks like it! :-)

Interesting. What an eclectic collection of countries too! :-)

Now that must be fun -- having both 50 and 60Hz and 127 and 220V in
the same country (e.g. Saudi Arabia). What a pain...

That's a really useful link, thanks!
Cheers,
Michi.
