Hello, I recently posted about my 1 year old, fully cycled, freshwater
20g tank that had extermely cloudy water. The water is greyish, so I
know I am dealing with a bacterial bloom, not an algae bloom. For
those who don't remember my original post, my tank's parameter's are:
Ph - 7.0
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia- 0
Gh - 5 degrees
My tank's inhabitants are:
1 Snakesking Gourami
4 Blackskirt Tetra
5 Zebra Danios
2 Serpae Tetra
1 Neon Tetra (his 7 buddies were eaten by a fish who was later
removed. He is doing great oddly enough.)
There are no live plants, all plastic. I will try my hand at live
plants once i have the water clear.
I have tried everything to get my tank's water clear. I have tried:
More Frequent Water Changes
Less Frequent Water Changes
Adding Clear Water drops
Taking out the biggest fish
Adding extra Carbon to the filter
Cutting down on the amount I feed
Cutting down on the time that the lights are on for.
Added AlgaeFix (I thought this might be a freakish algae bloom, well,
it isn't)
Nothing worked. While doing a water change today, I noticed that 2
caves are extremely white in color, when I bought them, they were dirt
brown. Is it possible that this is the cause of the cloudy water? My
LFS said that this was impossible because all aquarium decorations are
thoroughly tested. Do you think that the caves could be the cause of
the cloudy water? In the meantime, I have removed the caves and will
see what happens. My apologies for the length of this post.
Thank you very much for reading,
Evan Davis
