Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience with this fish? I believe the
Scientific name for it is "Rhamphichthys_rostratus". It looks like a
Knife fish with an elephant nosed snout ;-). My LFS has a couple of
them now. Any info is appreciated.
Here are a couple of links/picture about the fish:

I don't have any experience with this fish myself.
I think it is a somewhat difficult fish to keep. It has a reduced jaw, and
so cannot
stay with aggressive tankmates. It also needs a secure hiding place to stay
in.
It is also difficult to feed. Essentially, it has trouble eating flake
foods. It is evolved to
eat by "sucking spaghetti through a straw". It would probably require a diet
of something
like live mosquito larva.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm also guessing this fish would be along the line of elephant nosed and
knife fish that i have kept both currently, and in the past. They are both
fussy eaters that would not touch flakes or sinking pellets (I have to feed
them with frozen bloodworms, live blackworms and earthworms) However, after
an initial "shy period", both of them eventually get used to the
environment, would come out from hiding place at feeding time, and even
would eat from my hand.
With this "trumpet' fish, I wonder if it would even be swimming at all
during the day? (or become as active as a...sword leaf in my plant tank when
the light's still on ;-)
