I have a Red-wag platy. For two weeks since we bought him he has been doing
fine. I just finished a three day treatment for ich and now he is acting
odd. He either stays around the top of the tank or in the lower corner
which is not his normal behavior. Also, he seems to be breathing very fast.
Any ideas?

Lisa

What kind of treatment did you use? Some medications remove oxygen from
the water. That is why they recommend extra aeration during treatment.

don't quote me or anything because i'm new with all of this, but
perhaps he is just stressed from the ich and the treatment? is he
getting enough oxygen? maybe after a couple of days he will be
feeling better... good luck!

Lisa, as len pointed out, after a treatment, the water is usually oxygen
depleted and needs a water change... you can do that and return the carbon
to the filter to assist in removing the chemicals from the water... several
days later, remove and discard the carbon, never re-use it...

you can start on your normal maintaining of water changes as soon as you
can....
