Its been like this now for weeeks and weeks. I've posted this problem
b4 to the group. After being told that its probably the 1st sign that
there's sumthing wrong with the water quality, i think maybe this fish
has a unique behavior. my oranda has been doing this 4 a while now.
previous replies told me that there's probably sum illness but i thinx
its not cos the fish swims around when there r people around or when
its feeding time. It only sits on the bottom when no one's around for
a while. Really strange. So what do yall think of this???

My 2 Oranda seem to exhibit similar behaviour, when I clean the tank
they are the only fish that express an interest in what is going on.
Occaisionally one of them will frequent an area of the tank for weeks
on end and then resort to "normal" behaviour. The other 6 fish (5
different varieties) just carry on as normal.
Am I daft or do Oranda seem to be the only fish to exhibit any degree
of a personality?

I have moors, and they all have differing personalities, some stronger than
others. So it's not just Orandas.

sitting on the bottom is often first sign of something wrong only if the fish werent
sitting on the bottom before. check water quality. increase aeration in the tank,
do water changes and if the fish are more active then water quality/oxygen was the
problem. Ingrid

I used to have several who always slept propped on their fins on the
bottom of the tank. I would often find them lined up in a neat row,
facing the back of the tank. A nice arrangement of fancy tails and
fins. Another liked to perch in a plant like a little bird. If your
fish seems healthy otherwise, it might be it just likes it. If you have
doubts, change water, change water, change water ... it rights a lot of
wrongs...
