Pond healthy, oxygenation fine, ph fine, fish lively, in fact water is great
but in my filtration chambers and in the filters sponges themselves there
are hundreds of little red worms approx 0.5mm in diameter and 10mm long.
What are they, should I be worried?

Now you've got the poor guy hiding under the bed. :)

Don't worry Brian, they're just Blood Worms. Your fish should love them.

They are the larva of a species of midge
fly and fast food for fish.

The red worms are the larvae of the black fly, which looks like an oversize
mosquito. It doesn't bite, eats mosquitos, so not a problem.
