Hi,
I've been out for a couple of days, i've fed the fish before i left and
right after i came home.
about 3 hours after i came back i've noticed one of the fish (small red
one, something like a neon but red) had inflated like a balloon, u can
make out its head and tail sticking out of a totaly round body, twice
its normal size.
what can this be ? pregnant ? in two days ? sickness ? so far its the
only one that looks like this.
thanks

Thanks,
yeh, that seems to be it - i've isolated the fish but its scales are
sticking out already (very much so), so i doubt it will survive...
anyway im gonna treat it (and the aquarium) with metilan blue as a
precaution...
also - i've noticed a sharp increase of fungus on the glass of the
aquarium in the last 4-5 days, I'm supposed to do a water change
tomorow (last water change two weeks ago). aquarium is 100litter. and
runs smoothly for a year now, except for two fatalities last month its
going on really well...
if you want (from curiosity) i can take a photo of the sick fish... it
realy looks like a porcupine now ...
thanks

Bad idea. Methylene blue has zero effect on dropsy; but it will kill
your plants and may kill your filter bacteria, causing nitrite
poisoning.
Basically there's nothing to be done about dropsy. Once it develops
the fish is almost guaranteed to die, since it's intestines have
started to rot, and the best course of action is to euthanize the
fish.
FWIW, and others disagree, in my experience dropsy is almost, but not
quite, always caused on by feeding with frozen bloodworms which have
started to go bad.

Fungus? You mean algae?

Please do. If the photo turns out OK, consider submitting it to e.g.
this site:

(Same goes for everyone else who's got images of identified diseases:
put them on the web somewhere!)

Yes, it's good photos. Especially considering that Cherry Barbs are
such small fish.

No, sorry, I do not wish to submit your photos, and I don't think
she'd accept them if I did, as I haven't taken them. Please contact
Pandora directly, her email can be found in the red text in the
beginning of this page:
