which is best sump or main tank. I have mine on the sump but would it do
better on the tank. I believe that it can be used in the sump but every time
I try this it floats and turns over and refuses to remains where I want it.

From the subject line I'm guessing you need to find the best location
for your Prism skimmer. IMO, the best location for your Prism skimmer is on
Ebay!
But if you insist on keeping it (and you really should upgrade to
something that will actually skim correctly - unless you have a 20g tank or
smaller) - Use the tensioning screw to mount it to the side of the tank so
that it won't move. Maybe yours is still in the box? Either way it will stay
put wherever you decide to mount it.

FWIW, one prizm model does support in-sump installation according to
the websites I've viewed...

I just want the best location to get the most efficient place to have it.

I would put it in the display tank. That way you can also get the
benefit of surface skimming.

Do any prizms surface skim? Besides, as long as the tank isn't
drilled, and uses an overflow to get the water to the sump, surface
skimming isn't really all that effective....

I bough the prizm surface skimmer attachment for mine and I noticed no
difference in the surface film on the top of the water. A waste of money
AFAIK.
