I have a 75 gallon aquarium with 60lbs of live rock. I'm looking to replace
my junky Sea Clone protein skimmer. Since I do not have a sump I'll have to
continue to use a hang on skimmer.
I've done some research and the Aqua C Remora seems to be a very efficient
skimmer and it's reasonably priced too. I'm trying to decide if I should go
with the Remora or the Remora Pro.... The Remora can handle up to 75 gallon
tanks. The Pro can handle up to 120G.. Should I go with the larger unit?
If anyone else knows of a good skimmer, that I can use on a tank without a
sump, please let me know.
Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn, go with the larger "Pro" skimmer. You'll be very happy with it. The
other creme de la creme is the new HOT Euro Reef, but I don't know the price or
the model number.

The Remora Pro will skim and skim well, but I sold mine as I couldn't put up
with the
micro bubbles nor the noise (my bubbles never ceased nor did the Remora
quieten down). I also didnt like having to have such a large pump in the
tank to drive it.

Try getting a 6x turn over or close to it. Under power skimmer will still
work but not efficient enough to do the job, especially if bioload is high
or overfeeding. Algae may still grow.
