I bought a 4 pound piece of uncured LR from my LFS last week, I just
couldn't pass up the colors. Anyways
I have had it in a 10 gallon tub with sal****er from my main tank and a
skimmer running. I have changed the
water twice (so 3 batches) since last Friday. It smells about half as bad as
it did but there are still some things
on it that look like some dead sponges (dark brownish) and some little
feather duster tubes. Do I need to wait
for these to fall off or how do I know when it is done. Are there signs
other than just smell and ammonia? The
temp is in the low 70's since I don't have an extra heater, will that slow
things down?

Thanks,
Kelly

See my last posting (number 15) under "Can ammonia and nitrite be too
high...". There is some advice there from a veteran reef keeper who
cures rock commercially.
