Hi
My black moor's been sitting on the bottom lately. Now I've had this
problem b4. It sits on the bottom n when it's feeding time it comes up
to get food, swims n forages for a while n goes back resting on the
bottom. Now the scary thing was that a few times, the moor was lying
sideways on the bottom as if it were dead or sumthing but comes up to
feed. It also has some white specks (not exactly spots) on the head n
tailfin. So, any1 know what this mite be?

Almost assuredly bad water.
Do a 50% PWC, measure ammonia, nitrites and nitrates,
and report back here. Hop to it!

The spots are apt to be ich, but water quality is
essential for treatment of that as well.

Hey John,
Have you noticed if your Moor is flashing (rubbing itself against the decor
or gravel)? If so, it sounds like flukes which can be treated very
successfully with Praziquanten.
If the specks look like tiny grains of salt, it could be white spot or Ick
and this can be treated with salt (make certain the salt you are using is
pure and contains no other additives)..
For details on white spot treatment using salt please see

Hope this helps.

I agree... and, you are probably overfeeding the fish. it sounds like digestive
problems as well.
spots on the gills or head is breeding stars. a few on the tail could be epistylis
and due to poor water.
if it looks like crystals of salt, then it is ich and you must treat fast. two
things bring on ich, adding new unquarantined fish and a big temp drop.
