My thanks to anyone who would give me their opinion on this one.
Bought a BTA @ four weeks ago. 9 days later, it split in two. Both have
been doing fine though they couldn't find a happy place. I waited 10 days
after the split to feed them. (piece of scallop)
Both anemones latched onto glass and moved to the very top of water level on
the back glass on opposite sides of the tank. Were there for @2 days.
Got up Saturday morning to find mother anemone half eaten by powerhead, tank
really cloudy. I don't think I put the powerhead back together right
because the BTA got sucked into the gap between the actual powerhead and the
filter/holding unit. Turned off the powerhead and went to work. Noticed
actinic bulb in one PC is out. (bought bulbs same day I bought BTA)
Got home - mother has mostly detached itself from injured part and
powerhead. Jr has started to move across the back glass toward mother's
side of tank. Jr was last seen colorful and healthy on the back glass at
the bottom of the tank between rock and glass.
Sunday morning - Jr is gone. Mother is in same place on upper back side of
glass. Noticed anemone pieces all over tank, but figured it was part of the
acident with the injured animal. Inspected tank, remaining powerhead,
overflow, no go.
Monday afternoon, after doing some reading on the internet, started moving
rocks in the tank, found a nest of orange and black worms about 4" long
under rock near which Jr was last seen alive. I've seen these worms about
the tank for years now, they come out when I feed the fish and the largest
I've ever seen is about 1" long. Still no sign of Jr.
Going to do regularly scheduled water change tonight.
Can't imagine any other inhabitants touched the anemone - so, what say you?
I would appreciate other's input on this one. I think I might have to go
worm hunting.
