Watts vs. Kelvin ???

Which factor is more important when choosing a plant bulb? I have heard its
the color that's more important. others say its the wattage.? if its high
watts but wrong color it wont help. if its right color but too low of
wattage it wont help.....Whets best? I currently have a 20W 6500K plant bulb
on my moderately planted 29 gallon freshwater tank.

Plants love 6500k, doesn't matter the wattage... 5000k gets to be more blue,
which I like as do plants.. but 6500k is better IMO....

Huh? Higher color temperatures look more blue, lower color temperatures
look more red.

I've seen many recommendations that planted tanks should be lit using
5000-6000K. Apparently, higher color temperatures encourage algae.

The Plants will adapt. The key is consistency.. I have a 29 Gallon heavily
planted tank.. First bulb was a 6,500k.. I hated the "yellowish" color..
I then switches to a 96 Watt 10,000k bulb. MUCH cleaner looking light. My
plants are doing great! And once I started dosing PMDD, on a consistent
basis, the plant growth is off the charts!

I was wrong, 5000k is more yellowish where 6500k is more blueish... but in
my tank, my 6500k looks more yellow...

My first tank came with a single aquarium fixture (Perfecto) and a
tri-phosphor bulb, WTH that is. It gave the tank a nice bright blue tinge,
with only a 25 watt bulb. I built my own hood and added 4x36 compact
fluorescents. Two bulbs are 5000K and the other two bulbs are 6500K. The
plants may like it, but I hate the colour. Strange thing is that the 25 watt
bulb appears to light up the room, while the 4x36 bulbs don't 'appear' to
show as much light. I think it's largely due to the better reflector (more
light IN the tank) in the homemade canopy and also to our perception of the
light colours.

I'd really like to have a couple of 10,000K bulbs in the tank. But the
newest tank is going to have 4x32 T8s at 5000K because they were cheap at
HD. I could not resist $4 CDN for a full spectrum 20,000 hour bulb,
considering the price of aquarium bulbs.
