Hi all, been reading here for awhile, never posted before today. (Thanks for
all the useful info by the way!) I have two issues with our fish I hope you can
help with.
1. We have a beautiful male betta, George, that is about the least aggressive
fish I've ever seen! I noticed George has a white "spot" on his bottom or lower
jaw. I have never had to deal with "Ick" or any other sickness before and am
not sure what this is or how to treat it. George is lethargic, not eating well
and currently in isolation. None of the ther fish show any unusual signs. I am
watching them all very closely. Most sites I've been to only give written
descriptions of fish diseases, the few pictures are not clear or tiny and you
can't see anything. Please any advice would be welcome. My five year old son
(who is the actual "owner" of the fish) loves George a great deal. Id hate to
find him ...well...belly up!
2. Mollies, mean mean mollies! I introduced one dalmation mollie to the tank a
week ago. At first no problems. All the fish were pleasant and fine, my
concerns over George (the pacifist betta!) were ill founded. However I have
noticed the mollie , Spot (hey my son picked that name!), is getting more and
more aggressive! This is suppossed to be a nice little "community" fish, non
aggressive type that gets along well with others. Instead I have an ill
dispositioned mollie piglet! He eats everything! It's to the point I'm close to
letting the cat have a bit o' fun with Spot. The other fish are definately not
getting much chance to eat. Spot chases the other fish and nips their fins. One
fish is now dead thanks to the murderous mollie! (RIP Snow - a fine albino
cory) Any suggestions on why the sudden change in Spot's demeanor may have
occurred? Do they get aggressive over territory or when they need / want to
mate? I would appreciate any advice, as it is I have one sick fish and one mean
mollie. Something must be changed, Im just not certain what.
