I have aquired a very entertaining spotted mandarin goby, and he has
plenty to eat in my 75reef, but eventaully, I'm sure he wiill outpace
the production of little critters for him to munch. I'd like some
input of personal success on raising your own 'pods for goby food,
among other things.

75gallon
20g sump\fuge
seaclone 100 in sump
70lbs LR
6x65 10,000 pc
2x65 actinic pc
6-line wrasse
spotted mandarin
large green brittle star
ricordia mushrooms
assorted hermits and snails
emerald crab (probably)

I dont have any personal success to relate, but I can tell you what I've read.

People use a strawberry basket filled with live rock rubble and stick it
underneath their aquascape. That way your predators cannot get into their
haven where they can breed and eat in peace.

Very good idea! I think I'll try just that, I have a few of those
sitting around for the blueberries out back. Thanks.

I have a very happy and fat mandarin goby (dragonet), in a 55-gallon tank.
I never see him eating any food that I put in the tank. But he seems to
find more than enough to eat himself.

But I do have a lot of rock, and a lot of rubble piles (made out of former
coral skeletons). And the tank has to be mature enough for the pod population
to spread and stabilize.

But with a single fish, and 75 gallons, and lots of live rock, I don't see
why you would need supplemental feeding for your mandarin.
