View Full Version : A Happy Story

Hi All,

Been lurking around here for a few months, figured that it's time to
contribute.

With all the recent posts about dying fish (and blinded fish, yuck!) I
thought that the group could use a little feel-good story.

On the desk in my office, I have a little Eclipse-6 with a single Red Cap in
it. (s)He's about 2.5 years old. The day before the post appeared about
the Black Moor getting sick, I noticed that my Red Cap was sitting at the
bottom of the tank and a whitish haze had appeared on the cap. The fish had
stopped eating and was starting to list.

I immediately started emergency procedures. Removed the charcoal from the
filter, started treatments with an ick cure and an anti-fungal, and did
daily 50% water changes (I normally do 33% weekly, so this wasn't exactly a
big stress inducer).

I am happy to report that as of yesterday, almost all of the white is gone
from the cap (just a small patch that almost looks like a scar), he is
swimming normally, cruising the bottom looking for extra food, and when I
turned the light on this morning, he shot up to the top of the tank to wait
for breakfast.
