View Full Version : Different Dechlorinators?

Hi
I've been lurking for a while enjoying all the wisdom and interesting
threads. Now I have a simple question about dechlorinators.
For a while I used various brands and more or less you had to use the
same amount of dechlorinator per litre of water.
Then I discovered Pr*me which seemed much, much more economical to use.
As it claims to remove chlorine, chloramine and ammonia, as well as
detoxifying nitrites and nitrates, I was wondering whether there might
be complications or side effects from using it. Paranoia or reasonable
concern?
Thanks for any feedback.
Paul.

Curious.....why no *i* in the word Prime?
Is this another Pleco type thing?

I use Prime and like it better than anything else. Ounce for ounce it goes
farther than the cheap varieties.

I use NovAqua from habit more than anything else. I suspect they all
work as well, as effectively.

I use the aquarium version inside, the pond version in the pond. The
aquarium version is more dilute, the pond version would be cheaper,
but more of a nuisance to measure accurately. I suspect that is why
the ones you have examined are about the same, for measurement
convenience.

For just chlorine the cheapest would be buying Sodium Thiosulfate as a
dry chemical and mixing your own. I'm too lazy for that.

Just more paranoia about naming products in a negative context.
I think it's back to the shrink for a few more sessions. ;)
