Are there any bad effects from injecting DIY CO2 into a tank? I'm
sure there must be some warnings and that's why I ask. I have a 46g
with a good number of plants in it. I'd like to inject CO2 to boost
growth, but I'm afraid that I might screw up the pH levels, what are
the risks?

I have a stable 8.0 pH, with 140kh hardness, and 180 gh. Filtered
with a Fluval 304 and well aerated with two airstones. No ammonia, no
nitrites, and nitrates hover around the 20ppm range. Lighting is 12
hours of 60W of Hagen Aqua-Glow lighting including ~5-6 hrs of
indirect light (including indirect sunlight).

About 14 plants, swords, hair grass, anacharis, anubias, substrate is
mostly fluorite mixed with some aquarium gravel.

20 community fish: 3 gold longfin gold danios, 4 blue longfin
danios, 2 giant danios, 3 otocinclus, 4 cherry barbs, 4 gold barbs.

I'd like to get my plants to grow at a better pace, but I'm wondering
what the "ins and outs" are from CO2. What are the risks?

Like I said, it's a stable tank and my fish are used to the higher pH
from my tap,but I'd hate to screw that up with CO2. I'd like to hear
people's experiences.

Thanks for any good advice- I'm starting to enjoy the aqua plants more
and more, almost as much as the fish.

PH will likely drop...I usually lost close to .7, shut off the CO2 at
night, this helps.

Co2 will decrease ph so that is something to keep your eye on.
