Hi All
I have nine goldfish in a 4ft long tank.
All seem very healthy and happy except for one. About half an hour after i
feed this fish starts having problems swimming and keeps floating to the
the top. swims down and floats to the top again.
ater doing this for some time it then starts lying on its side and
struggling to swim before eventually losing the battle and swimming /
Floating upside down.
However when i get up in the morning the fish is swimming fine no problems
keeping depth as its condition has vanished.
yet when i feed that night it all starts again.
This has been going for the last 6 days.
I have had my tank for 8 weeks.
Any ideas
Thanks

Most likely bladder infection. Can't keep his buoyancy, can't fill it up
with air. Try for few days not to feed it.
Maybe when he rest for a while, gets better. Check for medication, I think
there are some out there.

DONT MEDICATE. this fish is having problems with swim bladder.
read ALL of this
http://www.mu.edu/~buxtoni/puregold/disease/symptom/symptom.htm#floating%20problems
get high quality, high protein sinking fish food and feed VERY VERY SMALL quantities.
for example 3-4 flakes of aquadine per 6-8 inch fish twice a day is more than enough.
you may want to feed this fish 1/2 of the inside of a cooked pea, or, a couple grains
of cooked white rice after feeding it a couple flakes of good sinking food. this
helps move the food thru. or, feed cooked and chopped human quality shrimp, but
again, small quantities and watch that the tank doesnt get fouled.
it sounds like you are overstocked. need 10 gallons water per fish
keep nitrates at or under 20 ppm
get rid of the gravel (slowly) if you got gravel
get at least 2 if not 3 airstones in that tank blowing air..
when the airstones are going bring the temp up to 76-78oF. helps speed digestion.
