View Full Version : Saying goodbye to Algae

To all those people who, at one time or another, have had algae
problems in their fresh water aquarium, I'd like to share a rather
simple method I used to totally eraticate my algae epidemic.

Like many other people who have had this problem, I went to my local
aquarium supply store and they recommended NOT using any liquid
products such as "Algae Fix Liquid Algae Control" as it may have
adverse effects on your fish.

The simple fact: algae is created by too many phosphates in your tank.
I bought Green-X (by Hagen, a filter pouch you can put anywhere in
your filtering machine) and shortly thereafter, my algae was gone.

CAUTION: Green-X is very good - too good. The algae was cleaned out
so thoroughly that my pleco died from starvation. In fact, I no
longer required the use of any algae-eating fish.

Hope this info is helpul. Thanks everyone.

Jim.

I've tried it before and it didn't even phase the algea. = (
I'm glad it worked for you. My water supplu probably has a lot more phosphates
than yours.
