Hiya guys

Well the tank is doing allot better since i added a second Fluval 404
canister filter (chemical filtration, and Mechanical in the second), the
algae is at last under control but it's proving to be hard work. In my bid
to increase filtration i added some more live rock which had been maturing
in a 400gl FOWLR, but what i did not realise was that there was a mantis
shrimp stowed away in one of the pieces of rock.

At first i did not see the little fu@ker, but when i turned the lights off
last night and had a look at the tank a couple of hours later there he was
dragging my red scooter blenny into his hideaway (I have had the scooter
blenny for about 2 years.

I've got to get the dam thing out of my tank, but i would prefer to use some
kind of trap opposed to ripping the tank apart.

What do you guys think, any ideas?

Cheers

I caught one some time back. I got lucky and grabbed him after he slipped
into a rock on top. I was able to grab the rock and pull it out. Be
careful. They can hurt you really bad. Good luck. I wish I could offer
suggestions. I wasn't much on trying to trap him, but it might work.

A very difficult situation, had the same problem and the only way was to
remove the rock he slipped into, it sounds difficult but its the only way,
just as Royce said.
I tried traps and all sorts of things including a remote spear gun.
As long as you know which rock to remove your saved.

Trigger fish do a great job of cleaning up any unwanted
shrimp.............hell they even clean up the wanted one's, and corals,
