Dear all

Can anyone recommend a good sinking food for Goldfish which you can get in
the UK?

Most of the sinking foods you see in pet stores are for tropicals and all
the goldfish foods are not sinking.

I got something called Promin which is granular, 50% protein, the goldfish
seem to like that, but I had to go quite far to get it and am looking for
something more local - or a good mail order site if that is better.

Will goldfish eat/thrive on Tetra tropical foods, e.g., Tetra Prima "The
slowly sinking granular food", Tetra tabimin "Fast sinking food for all
bottom feeding fish", or the pellets you stick on the glass? These are
available locally but all say they are for tropicals. The guy in the fish
shop seemed to think that goldfish wouldn't eat them (but I am not sure I
believe him).

The reason is that one of my fantails tends to go floaty when you feed
flakes.

Also, does anyone know where you can get medicated food in the UK, or a mail
order source? Many of the US companies don't ship to the UK and anyway the
cost would probably be silly.

Thanks, Alice.

Alice,

If your fish goes floaty everynow and again feed him shelled thawed peas.

I ordered Progold and Medigold from www.fishsempai.com - cost about 20 pounds
all in all but has lasted a long time (6 montbs so far and more than half left).
The medigold has probably become de-active now(?) but I still have over half a
packet
of Progold. I have 11 Black Moors by the way!

look for fish or shrimp in first ingredient. I know aquadine is online and you can
order from them. is highly recommended.

Haha...I just got 2 new fish (one moor and one fantail) and my moor went floaty
after eating flakes, so I read about the thawed peas thing. I forgot to shell
them though. My fantail had a blast pushing them around the tank though, but I
think he's mad now. Oh well.
