I have a couple of 3" + sized apple snails in a 46 gallon community
tank- I know loaches just love snails, and was wondering if they'd go
after these two monsters if I added them in. I have this fantasy that
they're too big to be eaten, but don't want to find out the hard way.
How do they feed on snails? Take chunks out of them at their leisure?

No problem. It's principally the 'botia' loaches which are carnivorous
and capable. Your Kuhlis will not bother your Apple snails. I've often
kept them together.

Weather loaches (or Dojos) are not botia, and are basically a large
cooler-water version of the Kuhlis. Having said that, an adult Dojo can
get quite large, and whether it wants to eat a snail or not might be a
matter of personal choice ;~). I'd guess that your snails are safe,
especially the larger ones.
