My apologies but I seem to be having a senior moment here! Can someone
remind me how to calculate the volume (UK measurements) of a 6 sided tank
that has the dimensions 19" high with side lengths of 24" at the longest
length, then 2 x 8.5", 2 x 5", 1 x 19" (its a sort of straight sided bow
front).

Assuming I understand your dimensions correctly.

24*8.5*19 = 3876
19*4.33*19 = 1563
2.5*4.33*19 = 206 (The two triangles combined)

5645/277.42 = 20.35 Imperial gallons.

OR

24*12.83*19 = 5851
2.5*4.33*19 = 206 (Subtract the two missing triangles)

5645/277.42 = 20.35 Imperial gallons.

But then I probably bollixed up your dimensions. :)
