Sorry for the condition of the photographs enclosed, but between this
fish being some what camera shy, and the limitations of this cast-off
cam-corder, and of course, "Murphy's Law", a main thread woven deeply
within the fabric of my life, this is the best that I could get of
him/her.

I'd say it's a cherry barb, Puntius titteya:

They can be much more strongly red than that - I've seen breeding
males get this red:

Likely a cherry barb, but it's difficult to tell for sure.

I know that I'm asking for a miracle here, because it's so small, making
it extremely difficult to photograph, but please try.
Thank you very much for all your efforts. Pax

go back to the LFS and find out what else was in the tank with the pl*co you
purchased. my hunch is that there will more than likely be livebearers
(mollys or platies). eggs usually will not last long in a tank full of
perpetually hungery fish. something that can swim and hide has a
tremendously better chance at getting caught up into an unsuspecting bag,
while the eggs take quite a while longer for the fry to reach that size. to
exemplify; it could take anywhere around two-three weeks for a fry to reach
that size from an egg, a livebearer can be born that big. its a mater of
surviving one day vs surviving two-three weeks without being eatin.

just my two-cents. best of luck.

Somebody else asked this, but I didn't see an answer. Why do people say
"pl*co" instead of pleco?

Thanks,

It's impossible to tell from those photos. Can you give an accurate
description of it? Does it look like a catfish? Tetra? Cichlid?

It's a superstition that if you write out PLECO yours will soon die.
So people started writing PL*CO instead.
