I introduced 2 small Pearlscales into my tank containing a moor, and 2
fantails on Sunday. the original fish are pretty big - 2" body length or so.
the pearlscales are only about 3/4". The original fish are not aggressive
and are not bothering the pearlscales at all other than a cursory once over
when they were introduced, but regardless the pearlscales are still hiding
under the plants in the corner. I've not seen them come out yet. I did
manage to se that they ate this morning so I think healthwise they are ok
but do you think they will eventually get used tot eh tank?

You sometimes get this. I suppose in the fish world it's
good survival behaviour, as you never know what might
inhabit new surroundings. I had a large Silver Shark hide
in the plants for a week :-)
They do get used to the tank and start relaxing, don't
worry.

to a new tank. They come round in a few days.

Interesting.
I thought the same myself.
But have observed my two blackmores...after I took them out of my big tank
to put them in a smaller tank by themselves. For the purpose of giving them
more of chance to not have to compete with the comets.
I have noticed for a week now...they stay in one corner next to the pump
intake....When I switch the tank light on the move up and around but then
settle back in to the corner.
Then if I switch the light off they do the same behaviour...move out and
around and go back to the corner.
When its feeding time they will move about but other than that not much
movement...where as in the larger tank they were happy to explore the whole
tank.
Taking more time to get familiar ?

Nzed, thats interesting. I've never moved to a smaller tank before. Maybe they
are lonely, especially if they were with more fish previously. Maybe its a water
issue thing (as hanging by the pump sometimes indicicates)? Just guessing
though.

All the chemicals are tested and okay.
They could be missing the others..
On the other hand maybe its a form of protest...."a sit in" ; )
