I wouldn't use one on a reef tank, but I've used them on several other systems
and recommend them highly on the systems I spec out. Very good filter, forget
the one with the dinky little UV though :)

Why woudn't you use this on a reef tank?

The only bio filtration that a reef tank requires is the live rock.
Cannister filters, undergravel filters, bio wheels, wet/drys work too
well and produce high nitrates. Live rock and a deep sand bed will
take the cycle one step furthure and produce nitrogen gas.

My main reason is that they trap plankton, I prefer plankton rich reef tanks.
For reef filtration I rely on LR & LS.
