Hi all,
I have a question: Do red leg hermit grabs shed their body shell? I had a
single one in a nano reef and one day I saw his remains on the sand all
eaten up. I figured the crab died till a day or two later where there he's
in his shell bigger than ever.
Is this what happens or what else can be going on?
TIA as always.

Yep, it's referred to as 'molting'. The crab grows, but the
exoskeleton does not. Periodically, the crab musg shed the old
exoskeleton, then it will stay out of sight for a period of time,
sometimes a few hours, sometimes days, dependant on species while the
new exoskeleton solidifies.
