I think most around here consider the Seaclone kind of crappy, but some have
used it and felt it was just fine.. I *think* I read something about they
had kind of "re-vamped" it somehow and it might be better now. On a larger
tank though you might need something better. And another bit of advice that
I think most here will agree with, for the most part, don't pay alot of
attention to what the *store says*.. they are in business to sell things and
are not always the best vault of information. I got into a bit of a
*conversation* with someone else on another newsgroups about goldfish in a
bowl.. (it was way off topic for the group it was on but I couldn't help
myself) the oh-so-knowledgeable *person at the store* told her two goldfish
in a bowl would be fine.. no airstone, no circulation, no cycling of the
tank.. put in the water put in these drops put in the fish.. She was so
excited about having these two fish.. and I tried to gently tell her that
was not the proper setup for goldfish, tried to explain what two fish who
would grow to a good 8+ inches if given proper conditions needed, and I was
just *being mean*.. less than a week later one fish was dead, the other was
sick and she was crying all over the place.. The moral of that little story
is, trust the people HERE who have KEPT these tanks and know what they are
doing and have been successful at it.. and always research your critters and
ask more questions before you buy them.. you will probably always get more
than one opinion because they are, after all, living unpredictable beings,
but you will have more information to base your choices on.
And I know that was way more than the skimmer question needed but thought it
might help..
