I'm setting up a new aquarium and my question is is it wise to glue
artificial live rock only with portland cement. What impact on pH would this
kind of glueing stones have on 200 G aquarium if I use for glueing only 1 kg
of cement? Would it be necessary to leave this cement to cure under water
and how long?

Why not use epoxy glue sticks?
Are there any problem with the aquarium products in reef tanks?

Here where I live I can't buy epoxy glue for reef. I' ve bought once
aquamedic reefconstruct epoxy but in Hungary. It was also very expensive for
such a small amount of glue.

I'm not sure if yo are thinking of epoxy glue sticks that can be bought in
hardware stores. I'm not sure if those products are reef safe. Maybe someone
has tried it already?

Hi,
I haven't done this before, but while doing online research on
Aragocrete, I noticed that people were recommending 'Thorite' for you
particular application. It is some quick set cement that I think you
can use right away, no cure. Do a Google or other search on 'Thorite
reef'.
I guess you could glue two parts together with regular Portland
cement, but I think this Thorite stuff is more for immediate use.
Thanks, Kenneth.

Are you from Poland?
I wouldn't say that I'm from balkanian country, rather central Europe. I'm
from Croatia.
Did you try to glue in your tank with such resin?
Tnx

yes, i was in Croatia twice, in summer :)
You are happy, free snails and others floats around...
I didn't use such riesin, but i know it is safe, because many people
have used it for making inner backgrounds.
It isn's as fast as glue, but it doesn't matter in your case.

I've tried snails, shrimps, cucumbers and hermits but they cannot live long
in tropic temperature. Live rock is perfect - beautifoul, porous, full of
worms and little critters that can live in reef aquarium.

I have some, but it's known that this rock isn't suitable for reef
aquarium, because it's mix of different minerals, not clear Ca.
Snails and shrimps lives happily in few tanks - a key is not to allow to
grow temperature too high.
During vacation I saw snails living in very hot water, even temporarily
without water in full sun
Unfortunatelly I didn't have marine tank these days :(
