Hi all, (note crossposting when replying)

I have a pair of dalmation mollies in the 25gallon tank and this morning
weve noticed some odd behaviour.

One of them is sitting up behind my internal fluval 3+ filter, just sitting
there, moving a little every so often.

Its like he's deliberately staying at the top of the latch housing that the
filter clips onto.

Also, the 2 red platties are staying below this housing and the 4 danios are
sitting in the middle of the tank as if their waiting for something to
happen.

its really odd, the only changes ive made are adding some plastic plants
yesterday (because the blue lobster snipped and dug up all the real
ones:-( ) and some slate stones .

All were thoroughly washed.

Additionally i have added a spray bar to the fluval which has changed the
current.

Now, the only thing that springs to mind is that given that mollies are live
bearers, im wondering if the molly is using the filter latch housing to give
birth in? Is that possible?

Behavior like this usually indicates stress, and stress is often
caused by water quality. Test your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. How
old is the tank? Has it beed cycled?

Cycled and tests are normal, ie ph 8, ammo 0 , nitrites 0 and nitrates 10,
this was on sunday.
I wonder if it could be all the plastic plants etc i put in yesterday then
if its stressed.

You mentioned something about a Blue Lobster. Could this be a source of
stress??? Just a thought.

Do you know if the molly is impregnated?

He goes nowhere near them, and theyve been together for over a week with no
problems when these symptoms suddenly appeared.
