Since this is a *marine* newsgroup what do you expect us to say? Salt of
course. And stop yelling, writing in ALL CAPS is like yelling at us.

Fresh water you are mostly stuck with Fish Only and then just a few typs
Angles Guppys Gold Fish and Mollies and maybe one or two other types but a

Not entirely true. The fish you see in a basic LFS's fresh section
are going to be as you said. Goldies, angels, tetras etc. There is SO
MUCH MORE! Get a decent freshwater aquaria atlas and you'll be
shocked and amazed. There are a nearly limitless number of different
fish in the cichlid family alone, hence it's popularity. Even staying
with non-cichlid fish, there are facinating Botias, catfish, .....the
possibilities really are only limited by your imagination and
willingness to search for info and fish beyond the confines of a
chain fish shop.
That said, I'm pretty stuck on my salt tanks, as well, but I
still enjoy my freshwater, too!

I agree. Take a peek at liveaquaria.com's freshwater section, they have plants
inverts's and fish.
The thing I dont like about freshwater is that its not as colorful. You
basically have green plants with some sort of shade of brown fish, maybe with
highlights. With sal****er you can have neon greens, oranges, yellows, etc.

Hence the popularity of cichlids. There are some more interesting
colors.

And, unfortunately, this also explains the success of dyed fish.
These fish are colored either with an acid bath\color bath, or
actually injected with dye. Most of them die, the ones that don't are
sold, and even then the fish rarely live more than a few months and
the colors fade anyway.
