Hi
I have an aquaclear 500 and am unable to hang it on the back because of a
piece of glass that holds the lid is in the way.

What would be a good solution
(a) remove someof that glass to fit the filter
or
(b) have the filter sitting on the side instead of the back

The filter is a bit of an eyesore sitting on the side. If there is a way of
cutting a space in the glass (that holds the lid) large enough so the filter
can sit better....id like to know how.
I could remove it...it attached with silicone. How would i go about doing it
safetly?

Looking forward to your suggestions

You can do either one.

Cutting glass is very difficult to do nicely, without sharp edges.

You can also get a difference glass top. My All Glass brand top has a
plastic strip about 2-3 inches wide the entire length of the tank for custom
cutting for whatever filter, heater, pump, etc. you wish to use. This works
well for me. These tops are pretty inexpensive, especially online.
