Just wondering, is it OK to add water heated/boiled in a kettle/saucepan to
cold water to match temperature for a water change?

I did some reserarch on this a few months back, and could find no
references to it being dangerous aside from not adding boiling water
*directly* to the tank with livestock.

I did this all last winter. I used a plastic trash bucket which holds about
8-9 gallons and mixed the boiling water with cold tap water to get
approximately the right temperature. I then added the dechlor. Make sure
the kettle/saucepan is thoroughly rinced to avoid possible soap
contamination. Better yet, use a dedicated one.

Bearing in mind that boiling can reduce carbonate hardness so if you
want hard water and use a high proportion you would make it softer.
