Nope, it doesn't feel oily, and it doesn't smell bad...

I'm going to try Marine Snow or something, and see if it helps..

Actually, mine has been hooked up for only a few days so far, and all is well. Parts for
more are in transit and will arrive next week, I believe. In September I hope to have a
few available if any are interested.

I saw your gizmo post - looks cool!. Unfortunately, I don't have the
wall space to plug it in. Depending on how big the hardware inside
is, have you considered trying to wire it into an existing power
strip? You could either add another button to activate the feed
timer, or simply remove the existing circuit breaker button and
replace it with another switch.

That would be VERY useful to me!

I get the same thing when I feed a "home-made" mix of squid and shrimp.
strange thing is it only does this to the skimmer in one tank. but within
an hour of putting the thawed cube in this tank the skimmer will have
skimmed at least a pint of very clear liquid. none of the other tanks do
this.

It won't fit within a power strip, but I will be seeing about a different shape in the next one
I make for my 29g. I don't have all the parts in yet, they are in transit currently.

Will you have room in your stand to mount a unit since your wallspace isn't available?
